Karavaan has been an annual mini-festival and friends' weekend since 2016, with 50 to 70 people per edition. In spring 2026 it turned ten, and marked that with a one-off reunion for friends and friends of friends.
Background
I built the website for the anniversary edition. Visitors had to find the practical details fast, and photos from earlier years had to get them looking forward to this one. As with the earlier editions, I did it myself, with no agency in between. That saves a lot of back and forth, and I get to shape the design and the tech the way I want.
Design and motion
The site had to look sleek and creative and still feel fast on mobile, so it was built mobile-first. GSAP drives the smooth scroll that brings content forward with each scroll movement. The hardest part was combining the vertical scroll with a horizontal carousel without breaking the flow of the page.
Tickets
Ticket sales ran through a Weeztix widget inside the site itself. Visitors were never sent off to a separate platform.
